Fractions with the Grid Method

The Grid Methodis a simply and easy way to learn fraction addition, subtraction and ordering all at once. In fact, with it the student discovers subtraction and ordering before addition. The basic concept behind the Grid method is to employ a grid-based rectangle as the base unit. This rectangular unit can then be divided three different ways: lengthwise, widthwise and crisscross. This intuitive partition provides for three different fractions: two independent ones and the third, the crisscross, is their common denominator
